Lap 2 builds on your Lap 1 foundation: advanced equalization, longer static and dynamic apnea work, refined finning and streamlining — the open-water-track training that starts pointing toward advanced and instructor-level freediving.

Prerequisites

Lap 1 certification required — from Freediving NYC or another Molchanovs-recognized provider. If you're certified elsewhere, tell us in the form and we'll confirm the crossover.

What's next: advanced training & the instructor track

After Wave 2 the path opens to advanced, depth-focused training — and, in a future phase, an instructor track at Freediving NYC itself. The sport's ceiling is high; the ladder here is built to climb.

Your Lap certification covers the pool and theory components of the Molchanovs system. To become a certified open water diver, join one of our overseas trips to take open water sessions and learn to dive into the deep.
